Kindergarten students will experience the following skills with assistance:
September/October - Use standard technology vocabulary
- Develop proper care of handling technology hardware and software
- Identify parts of the computer
- Using a mouse for pointing, clicking, double-clicking, and dragging
- Develop opening, using, closing and quitting a program
- Manipulate windows with teacher direction
November/December - Develop keyboarding skills
- Locate numbers, letter, and symbols on a keyboard
- Develop proper use of the space bar, punctuation, and shift keys
- Observe ethics and respect when using computers
- Demonstrate appropriate behavior while working independently
- Develop ideas about respecting one's own work as well as others
January/February - Continue to develop keyboarding skills
- Continue to develop skills using various computer programs
- Develop Internet skills with adult assistance
- Follow the school Safety/Acceptable Use Policy
March/April - Develop skills used in navigating a web page with adult assistance
- Begin to use cut and paste skills using graphics found on the Internet with adult assistance
- Begin to use technology resources to locate information with adult assistance
May/June - Begin to use a multimedia presentation tool with adult assistance
- Develop their own ideas using multimedia presentation tools
